Medium rugs

A medium rug measures between 160 and 229 cm on its longest side. At Rugvista, common medium sizes include 140 x 200 cm and 160 x 230 cm, plus runner, round and square options. For anything under 160 cm, see our small rugs; for 230 cm and up, see our large rugs.

Yes, for a compact to mid-size living room – roughly 3 x 3.5 m and under. Place it so the front legs of your sofa and armchairs sit on the rug, which keeps the seating area feeling connected rather than the rug floating in the middle of the floor. For a larger, open-plan living room, a large rug will cover the space better.

For a four-seat table, 140 x 200 cm or 160 x 230 cm usually works, provided you allow at least 60–70 cm on each side so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. A flatweave or low-pile medium construction is the practical choice here, since chairs move across it easily and spills wipe up faster.

Yes, a medium rug can work well beside or at the foot of a double bed, giving you a soft landing spot without covering the whole floor. If you want the rug to extend on three sides of the bed, or you have a king-size bed, a large rug will give you more even coverage.
