Its earthy palette of deep red, brown, and black tones creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect choice for bringing character to hallways or narrow living spaces.

As a one-of-a-kind piece, this rug offers a level of individuality that is increasingly rare in modern interiors. Because each runner is crafted individually, you are acquiring a unique work of art that will never be replicated, ensuring your home remains as distinct as your personal style.

The tactile experience of this flatweave is defined by its clean, low-profile finish. Made entirely from 100% Wool, it feels firm and grounded underfoot, providing a durable surface that is easy to maintain while offering natural sound-dampening qualities that soften the acoustics of any room.

Originating from the skilled hands of Afghan weavers, this vintage runner embodies a deep sense of provenance. Its presence in your home serves as a testament to a long-standing craft tradition, offering a blend of beauty and utility that stands the test of time.

Kelim rugs have long been a cornerstone of Middle Eastern textile traditions, serving as both functional floor coverings and expressions of cultural identity. The word Kelim refers to a flat-woven technique where the pattern is created by interlacing the warp and weft threads, resulting in a rug without a pile. This tradition is deeply rooted in the nomadic lifestyles of the region, where portability and durability were paramount.

The technical mastery of the Kelim lies in its simplicity and strength. By using high-quality wool, weavers create a fabric that is inherently resilient. The weaving process involves interlocking different coloured threads to form the design, which means the pattern is visible from both sides. This creates a remarkably sturdy construction that is both light enough to travel and strong enough to endure generations of daily use.

Visually, this Afghan runner is defined by its bold, repeating diamond motifs. These geometric shapes are not merely decorative but are traditional symbols that have evolved over centuries. The use of deep red and earthy brown tones is a hallmark of the Afghan style, reflecting the natural dyes and minerals available in the region, while the stark black outlines sharpen the transition between colours, giving the overall design a rhythmic, organised feel.

Owning an Afghan Kelim is an investment in a living history. These rugs are highly valued by collectors for their authenticity and the human story behind every thread. By choosing a vintage piece, you are preserving a craft that values individual expression and regional heritage over industrial uniformity, connecting your modern home to an ancient lineage of skilled artistry.

This runner is meticulously hand-woven, a process that requires immense patience and skill to ensure the precision of its geometric design. Unlike mass-produced items, this piece is built on a foundation of traditional techniques that have been passed down through generations, resulting in a robust structure that resists wear and tear.

The craftsmanship is evident in the substantial weight of 8.6 kg across its 334 x 128 cm frame. This density is a direct result of the high volume of premium wool used, demonstrating the significant human effort invested in creating such a sturdy, long-lasting textile that maintains its shape and appearance over years of use.

Every aspect of this rug reflects a commitment to quality, from the tightly tensioned weave to the carefully finished edges. The time required to complete a runner of this size and complexity is considerable, a reflection of the dedicated labour that ensures every square centimetre meets the highest standards of durability and visual clarity.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
