Bakhtiari - A Masterpiece of Traditional Artistry

Discover the profound beauty of this one-of-a-kind Bakhtiari rug, a hand-knotted treasure that brings authentic Middle Eastern heritage and exceptional warmth to your home.

Experience the comfort and depth of this stunning Bakhtiari rug, which serves as a grounding focal point for any room. The wool pile offers a soft, inviting texture underfoot, providing natural insulation and excellent sound absorption to create a calmer, more serene living environment.

This piece is truly one of a kind. Because it was crafted individually, no two rugs are identical, meaning that by choosing this item, you are welcoming a unique piece of art into your home that will never be replicated. It is a distinctive choice for those who value originality in their interior design.

The intricate floral and geometric motifs are balanced with a sophisticated colour palette that feels both classic and vibrant. The density of the pile ensures that the rug maintains its visual clarity and plush feel even in high-traffic areas, standing up to daily life with ease.

Originating from the storied weaving traditions of the Middle East, this rug carries a sense of place and history. It is a piece designed to be lived with, offering a tactile experience that only genuine, high-quality wool can provide as it ages gracefully in your home.

The Bakhtiari rug tradition originates from the mountainous regions of the Middle East, where the nomadic Bakhtiari tribes have perfected the art of weaving for centuries. These rugs are renowned for their strength and their ability to reflect the rugged, beautiful landscape of their homeland through their intricate designs.

The craftsmanship behind these pieces is deeply rooted in regional techniques that prioritise durability. The structure typically features a sturdy foundation, which allows the dense wool pile to stand up to the wear of mountain life. This technical approach creates a rug that is not just beautiful, but built for longevity.

Visually, Bakhtiari rugs are famous for their garden-inspired motifs and geometric layouts. While many feature the iconic 'khesti' or garden panel design, others showcase large, bold central medallions surrounded by elaborate floral sprays and decorative borders. The use of rich, saturated colours is a hallmark of the tradition, often achieved through natural dyes that gain a soft, beautiful patina over time.

Owning a Bakhtiari rug is an investment in cultural heritage and artisanal skill. These pieces are highly valued by collectors for their authenticity and the way they tell the story of the weavers who created them. By bringing one into your home, you are continuing a long tradition of appreciation for fine textiles and the human effort required to create them.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense skill and patience. With a density of 250,000 knots per m2, the construction is remarkably precise, allowing for the fine definition of the complex floral patterns that define the Bakhtiari style.

Given its generous size of 405 x 307 cm and a substantial weight of 43.5 kg, this rug represents hundreds of hours of dedicated labour. The sheer volume of material and the time invested in each individual knot result in a robust, high-density foundation that ensures the rug will remain a durable feature of your home for generations.

The weight of this piece is a testament to the quality of materials used and the density of the knotting. By choosing a hand-knotted rug of this scale, you are investing in a level of craftsmanship that creates a heavy, stable floor covering, far superior to mass-produced alternatives.

Wolle
