Designed to be both functional and expressive, this rug offers a tactile experience that only natural Wool can provide. Its medium pile height creates a balanced feel, ensuring it is substantial enough to be comfortable while remaining easy to maintain in a busy home.

Choosing this piece means embracing an authentic Afghan tradition. Its enduring quality ensures that it will remain a cherished part of your home for years to come, with its colours and soft feel only becoming more familiar and inviting over time.

The Berber tradition, while often associated with North Africa, has inspired weavers across the globe to embrace its focus on bold, geometric simplicity and expressive colour. In Afghanistan, this tradition has been interpreted through the lens of local weaving heritage, blending ancient techniques with a contemporary eye for design.

Hand-knotted construction is the gold standard for long-lasting rugs. By tying individual strands of Wool onto a foundation, artisans create a dense, resilient structure. This method allows for a greater level of control over the pattern and pile quality than other techniques, resulting in a product that is both beautiful and structurally sound.

The signature checkered pattern found here is a celebration of geometry and colour. While traditional rugs often rely on elaborate floral motifs, this piece takes a modern, artistic approach by using blocks of colour to create a sense of rhythm and movement across the surface. The use of varied, vibrant hues makes it a standout decorative element.

Owning a hand-knotted rug from this region is an investment in human skill and cultural continuity. These pieces are collected for their authenticity and the way they bridge the gap between historical craft and modern living. By choosing this rug, you are supporting a legacy of weaving that values individual expression and lasting quality.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted by skilled artisans in Afghanistan, a process that requires immense focus and patience. Every individual knot is carefully placed by hand, ensuring the structural integrity of the piece and allowing for the sharp, clean lines of the checkered design.

The labour-intensive nature of this craft is evident in the final result. With a density of 40.000 knots per m2, the creation of this rug represents significant human effort and dedication. This level of precision ensures a durable pile that can withstand daily use while maintaining its artistic appeal.

The weight of 3.6 kg, combined with the material quality, highlights the robust construction of this rug. This substantial weight is a hallmark of high-quality hand-knotted work, signalling that the piece has been built to last and will provide lasting comfort in your home.

Wolle
