This runner is a truly unique piece, showcasing the distinct artistry that only a handmade item can provide. Because it is one of a kind, you can be certain that no other home will have a rug exactly like this one, making it a special addition to your living space that will never be replicated.

Crafted from premium wool, the pile offers a soft, inviting texture that feels wonderful underfoot. Beyond its tactile appeal, the wool provides natural warmth and sound-absorbing qualities, helping to create a calmer and more comfortable atmosphere in your home.

The runner features a classic design inspired by traditional patterns, with a rich, inviting hue that grounds a room. Its construction ensures a dense, durable pile that stands up beautifully to daily life, maintaining its appearance and soft feel even in high-traffic areas.

Choosing this runner means inviting a piece of genuine provenance into your home. The skillful execution of the design reflects a long-standing tradition of craft from Pakistan, resulting in a rug that balances aesthetic beauty with the practical needs of modern living.

The Bokhara rug tradition is deeply rooted in the history of Central Asia, taking its name from the ancient Silk Road city of Bukhara. While these rugs were historically woven by nomadic tribes as functional items for their tents, the finest contemporary examples are now produced in Pakistan.

The term 3ply indicates that the pile is constructed using three strands of wool twisted together. This technique is significant because it creates a thicker, more resilient, and exceptionally lustrous pile compared to simpler constructions, ensuring the rug remains soft and vibrant over time.

These rugs are defined by their signature field of repeating gul motifs, which are stylised, geometric medallions that often resemble elephant tracks or octagons. These are typically organised in clean, symmetrical rows and enclosed by ornate, multi-layered borders that demonstrate a high level of design discipline.

Owning a piece from this tradition is an act of preserving a historic craft. Collectors value these rugs not only for their visual harmony but for the immense human skill required to produce them, making every runner a testament to a heritage of artistry that spans generations.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a labour-intensive process that requires immense skill and dedication. The artisan carefully ties each individual knot by hand, a method that ensures the pattern remains sharp and the pile stays firm and upright for years to come.

Given the density of the knots and the size of this runner, creating such a piece is an investment of many weeks of focused work. This level of craftsmanship creates a robust foundation that is far more durable than mass-produced alternatives, offering a superior level of quality that you can feel in the weight and resilience of the rug.

The 5.2 kg weight of this runner is a direct result of the high-density construction and the quality of the wool used. This substantial feel is a hallmark of authentic hand-knotted work, signalling a commitment to longevity and a standard of production that prioritises both beauty and structural integrity.

The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
