The Hamadan region in the Middle East is renowned for its prolific and diverse weaving heritage. Rugs from this area are celebrated for their adaptability and the way they combine traditional tribal patterns with regional influences, resulting in a distinct visual language that has evolved over many generations.

Quality in these rugs is defined by the use of durable wool, which provides a resilient pile that is both soft and long-lasting. The construction methods employed in this region are designed to produce a sturdy, dependable rug that can serve a household for decades, maintaining its structural integrity through years of daily life.

Visually, Hamadan rugs are often identified by their bold use of colour, particularly deep reds and blues, and their intricate floral or geometric motifs. This specific piece features a striking balance of these elements, with a central medallion and ornate borders that draw the eye and create a focal point in any interior space.

Owning a hand-knotted rug from this tradition is an opportunity to connect with a storied craft. These rugs are highly valued by collectors and homeowners alike for their authenticity and the human element present in every fibre, representing a commitment to preserving traditional techniques in a modern world.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate significant time to ensure every detail is captured with precision. The process involves securing each individual knot by hand, a labour-intensive method that creates a robust and high-density pile capable of withstanding years of foot traffic.

With a total weight of 12.4 kg, this rug demonstrates the generous amount of material used in its construction. This weight is a clear indicator of the density and quality of the weave, reflecting the patience and effort invested in its creation. Every knot contributes to the overall stability and long-term durability of the finished piece.

The complexity of the floral and geometric patterns is a direct result of this careful, manual approach to weaving. Because the design is built knot by knot, the resulting pattern has a clarity and depth that cannot be replicated by automated machinery, ensuring your rug remains a durable and cherished part of your home.
