The design is defined by bold, rhythmic geometric patterns that showcase the artistic tradition of the High Atlas region. Every line and shape is worked into the structure of the piece, creating a cohesive visual language that feels both grounded and sophisticated in a modern living space.

Because this rug is a truly one-of-a-kind creation, you are acquiring a piece of art that exists nowhere else. It will never be replicated, ensuring your home features a unique focal point that reflects a genuine connection to traditional craft and authentic materials.

With its origins deep in the mountain villages of Morocco, this rug carries a sense of place and history. It is designed to be lived with, offering a durable and resilient surface that only improves with time, becoming a cherished part of your home for years to come.

The High Atlas region of Morocco is home to a long-standing tradition of weaving that is deeply connected to the daily lives and environments of the Berber tribes. These rugs are not merely floor coverings but are essential components of the home, historically used for warmth, as bedding, or as decorative wall hangings during celebrations.

Kelim refers to a flat-weaving technique where the design is created by interweaving the coloured weft threads with the warp. This method produces a light yet sturdy textile that is highly valued for its versatility. Unlike knotted rugs, the kelim relies on the precision of the weaver to create clean, sharp patterns without the need for a pile, which makes the skill of the artisan paramount to the final quality.

The visual language of this region is dominated by geometric abstraction, with symbols often representing protection, fertility, or the natural landscape of the mountains. This particular rug utilises these traditional motifs in a way that feels balanced and intentional, with repeating diamonds and angular lines that draw the eye across the surface in a rhythmic, harmonious flow.

Collecting a piece from the High Atlas is an opportunity to preserve a living craft tradition. These rugs are highly regarded by collectors for their raw beauty and the human history woven into every thread. Owning one means participating in a legacy of nomadic artistry that has remained relatively unchanged for generations, offering an authentic connection to the cultural heritage of the Middle East and North Africa.

This kelim is expertly hand-woven, a process that requires immense focus and a steady hand. Instead of using a pile, the weaver interlaces the coloured Wool threads to create the intricate geometric patterns directly into the structure of the rug, resulting in a flat, dense, and exceptionally durable surface.

The creation of this piece is a testament to the skill of the artisan, with every inch of the 206 x 150 cm surface requiring precise tension and careful attention to detail. By hand-weaving the entire design, the artisan ensures that every geometric motif is perfectly aligned and that the final rug possesses a consistent, high-quality finish.

Given the complexity of the pattern and the size of the piece, the production process takes a significant amount of time and dedicated effort. This investment of human skill is reflected in the final product's character and density, providing a level of quality and authenticity that simply cannot be achieved by mechanical means.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
