Kashmir rugs are celebrated globally for their connection to the rich textile heritage of northern India. The tradition of weaving these rugs emerged as a fusion of local artistic sensibilities and influences brought along the ancient trade routes, resulting in a style that is distinctly elegant and highly sought after by collectors.

The term Kashmir silk refers not only to the origin but to a specific, highly refined approach to weaving. Using silk as the primary material for the pile allows for a level of detail and colour depth that is difficult to achieve with other fibres. The silk is prized for its natural lustre, which catches the light and changes the appearance of the rug depending on the angle from which it is viewed.

Signature design elements often include intricate floral patterns, vines, and the iconic medallion, which are inspired by the natural beauty of the Kashmir valley. These designs are executed with a focus on harmony and symmetry, creating a visual language that is both complex and balanced, making them a staple in refined interior design.

Owning a hand-knotted piece from this tradition is an investment in cultural heritage and artisanal skill. These rugs are valued for their enduring quality and the way they bridge the gap between functional floor covering and artistic expression, representing a legacy of craftsmanship that continues to be preserved by skilled weavers today.

This rug is a product of dedicated hand-knotting, a traditional craft that requires immense patience and precision. Each individual knot is tied by hand, a process that demands a high level of expertise and focus to ensure the integrity and longevity of the final piece.

With a density of 360,000 knots per m2, the artisan has invested hundreds of hours into this creation. This high knot count is the foundation of the rug's exceptional pattern clarity and robust structure, allowing the intricate floral details to stand out with remarkable sharpness.

The significant weight of 25 kg is a direct result of the high-density construction and the quality of materials used. This weight signifies a substantial, well-made piece that stays firmly in place, reflecting the countless hours of human effort woven into every square centimetre.
