Kazak FineHand KnottedRug

Dark green / Dark yellowRunner82 x 305 cm

Kazak rugs trace their origins to the Caucasus region, where nomadic and village weavers developed a distinct visual language characterized by bold geometric shapes and striking contrasts. Over time, these weaving traditions migrated, and today, some of the finest contemporary interpretations are crafted by skilled weavers in Afghanistan.

The design of this runner is defined by its repeating medallions and intricate geometric borders. These motifs are characteristic of the Kazak style, which traditionally uses strong lines and symbolic patterns to tell stories of tribal life, nature, and protection.

While traditional Kazak rugs often feature bright red or blue fields, this contemporary piece uses a modern grey palette. This adaptation allows the historic patterns to integrate smoothly into contemporary homes while preserving the authentic spirit of the craft.

Owning an Afghan Kazak rug is an appreciation of a living craft tradition. Each piece represents hours of dedicated human effort, carrying a cultural heritage that makes it a meaningful addition to any interior.

This runner was hand-knotted by skilled artisans in Afghanistan, a process requiring immense patience and precision. Every single knot was placed by hand, creating a robust structure that machine-made alternatives simply cannot match.

With a total weight of 7.5 kg for its 305 x 82 cm size, the runner has a substantial and dense feel. This weight is a direct result of the generous amount of wool used in the pile, reflecting the extensive physical labor and material quality invested in its creation.
