Brown / OrangeRunner84 x 294 cm

Kazak rugs take their name from the historical Kazak region in the Caucasus, where nomadic and village weavers developed some of the world's most recognisable geometric rug designs. Over generations, these weaving traditions migrated south into regional centres in Afghanistan, where local artisans continue to adapt these bold visual signatures using local wool and traditional hand-dyeing practices.

The Fine designation indicates a more refined weaving technique compared to standard tribal Kazak pieces. Weavers use finely spun wool to achieve smaller motifs and sharper visual definition, allowing intricate floral elements and structured borders to sit comfortably alongside traditional geometric forms.

Signature visual elements include repeating diamond lattices, stylized rosettes, and multi-layered border guards. While deep reds and blues are traditionally dominant, modern Afghan Kazak weavers often introduce muted grey fields to create a softer backdrop that highlights the detailed geometric linework.

Valued by collectors and homeowners alike, Kazak rugs are cherished for their sturdy build and expressive visual language. Owning a hand-knotted Kazak runner means acquiring a living piece of regional heritage that gains personal value as it becomes part of your home.

Hand knotted with skilled precision, this Kazak Fine runner represents hours of quiet dedication. Every individual knot has been tied by hand onto a strong cotton frame, creating a structural integrity that machine-made rugs simply cannot match.

Weighing 7.4 kg across its 294 x 84 cm size, the substantial weight of this piece reflects the high density of wool used in its construction. This heavy, compact build helps the runner lay flat and resist shifting during daily use.

The traditional knotting process creates a firm pile that stands up to years of steps, ensuring the detailed geometric motifs remain clear and vivid over decades of living with it.
