Crafted from Wool, this runner offers a soft yet durable texture underfoot. The natural qualities of the Wool provide a cosy, sound-absorbing layer that feels grounded and substantial, ensuring your home remains a peaceful sanctuary.

Because each piece is individually crafted, you are acquiring a unique work of art. No two runners are identical, and this exact design will never be replicated, giving you the assurance that your floor covering is as singular as your personal style.

Originating from the rich weaving traditions of Afghanistan, this runner showcases the skill of experienced artisans. Its low 5 mm pile ensures it sits neatly in your home, providing a smooth, functional surface that balances classic aesthetics with modern living needs.

Kelim rugs have long been a cornerstone of nomadic life across the Middle East and Central Asia. Originally created as functional items for tents and homes, these flat-woven pieces were essential for insulation and decoration, reflecting the environmental and cultural landscapes of the regions where they were produced.

The term Kelim refers to the specific flat-weaving technique used to create these pieces, where the pattern is formed by interweaving the coloured weft threads through the warp. This method results in a durable, reversible runner that is prized for its clean lines and graphic clarity, making it a favourite among those who value both form and function.

The design of this runner is rooted in the traditional geometric language of Afghan weaving. The diamond motifs seen here are classic elements of the region, often representing protection or prosperity. The vibrant use of colour is a hallmark of the Afghan style, which frequently celebrates local dyes and bold, contrasting palettes that bring energy to any room.

Collecting a vintage-style Kelim is an investment in cultural heritage. These rugs are valued not just for their visual appeal, but for the history they carry from the hands of the weaver to your home. Owning one is a way to connect with a long-standing tradition of craftsmanship that remains as relevant today as it was centuries ago.

This runner is meticulously hand-woven, a process that relies on the steady hands and experienced eyes of skilled artisans. By interweaving the Wool threads without a knotted pile, the makers achieve a flat, reversible surface that is both lightweight and incredibly resilient.

The 1.6 kg weight of this 197 x 79 cm piece is a testament to the density and high material quality of the weave. This labour-intensive process ensures that the runner maintains its structural integrity over time, offering a level of durability that mass-produced alternatives simply cannot match.

Each thread is carefully placed, with the tension and pattern alignment requiring hours of dedicated focus. This slow, intentional approach to production is why this runner feels so characterful and authentic, reflecting a deep respect for traditional craft that spans generations.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
