One-of-a-kind
Kilim PatchworkHand WovenWool rug
Brown / Black140 x 200 cm

Kelim Patchwork - A Warm Gathering of Woven Stories

Discover a truly one-of-a-kind Kelim Patchwork rug, thoughtfully assembled from hand-woven fragments to bring unique character and warmth to your home.
Bring an authentic touch of global craft into your living space with this striking Kelim Patchwork rug. Measuring 200 x 140 cm, this piece is entirely unique, bringing together a curated assembly of hand-woven fragments that will never be replicated in another home.
The 8 mm pile offers a comforting, tactile surface underfoot while providing natural sound absorption to help create a quiet, grounded atmosphere in any room. Crafted from 100% wool, it brings a rich, natural warmth and enduring comfort to everyday living.
Because each individual fragment is carefully chosen and stitched together by hand, the finished rug showcases an extraordinary depth of colour and texture. It feels reassuringly substantial and anchors your room with a relaxed, lived-in charm that synthetic floor coverings simply cannot match.
This one-of-a-kind creation means you are welcoming a piece of authentic textile history into your home. No two rugs share this exact combination of patterns and hues, ensuring your floor covering is as individual as your own personal style.
Patchwork kilims draw upon a rich tradition of textile recycling and resourcefulness found across nomadic and village communities in the Middle East. For generations, skilled makers have taken worn or damaged flatwoven rugs, carefully salvaging the sturdiest sections to give them new life in fresh configurations.
The underlying flatweave construction, known traditionally as kilim, is an ancient technique where weft threads are tightly packed across the warp without creating a piled surface. This results in a durable, lightweight textile with a flat texture that historically made these rugs easy to transport across trading routes.
Visually, this rug combines a vibrant mix of geometric motifs, tribal symbols, and traditional borders sourced from various regional weaving traditions. The eclectic arrangement creates a visual conversation between different eras and styles, uniting diverse patterns within a single balanced composition.
Owning a patchwork rug is an appreciation of sustainable craft and textile heritage. By preserving these fragments, the tradition continues to evolve, allowing you to bring a tangible piece of cultural history and enduring human artistry directly into your living space.
This rug is entirely handmade through traditional hand-weaving techniques, involving a remarkable level of human skill and patience. Artisans carefully select, clean, and stitch together weathered vintage kilim fragments, turning individual remnants into a cohesive, durable floor covering.
Weighing 5.6 kg across a 200 x 140 cm surface, the dense construction reflects the substantial amount of natural wool material and hours of skilled labour invested in its creation. Every seam is reinforced by hand to ensure the patchwork holds together securely for years of daily use.
The meticulous process of cutting and fitting disparate flatwoven pieces requires an experienced eye for balance, colour harmony, and structural integrity. This dedication to craft results in a sturdy, well-engineered textile that honours traditional weaving methods while offering fresh utility for modern interiors.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
