Bring home a unique piece of history with this authentic hand-woven Turkish Kilim. Its bold geometric motifs and rich colours make it a standout addition to any room in your home.

This authentic Kilim Vintage rug brings a storied sense of character to your home with its vibrant, bold geometric patterns. Each piece is truly one of a kind, meaning the specific arrangement of colours and motifs you see is unique to this rug and will never be recreated in the exact same way again.

Woven from high-quality Wool, this rug offers a tactile, durable surface that feels grounded and warm underfoot. Its thin, flat-woven construction makes it an incredibly versatile choice for busy areas of the home, as it sits flush against the floor and resists curling at the edges.

Beyond its visual appeal, the Wool construction provides natural sound-dampening qualities, helping to soften the acoustics of your living space. The dense weave of this piece ensures that it maintains its structural integrity and beauty over time, serving as a reliable and comforting foundation for your furniture arrangements.

Originating from the rich weaving traditions of Turkey, this rug carries a sense of provenance that mass-produced items simply cannot replicate. By choosing this piece, you are not just selecting a floor covering, but an artisanal object that has been shaped by generations of design evolution.

Kilim rugs are a cornerstone of Turkish textile history, originating from the nomadic traditions of the Anatolian plateau. These flat-woven rugs were historically used by families for everything from floor coverings and prayer mats to storage sacks and tent dividers, making them essential tools for a mobile lifestyle.

The term Kilim refers to the specific slit-weave technique used to create the patterns. By leaving small slits where two different colour blocks meet, weavers are able to create sharp, clean-edged geometric shapes. This technical choice is what gives these rugs their signature crisp, graphic appearance that remains so popular in modern interior design.

The visual language of Turkish Kilims is rooted in symbolism, with various geometric motifs serving as protective talismans or representations of the weaver's environment. You will often see repeating diamond shapes, stylized floral elements, and decorative borders that have been passed down through families for centuries, each telling a story of the region's cultural identity.

Owning a vintage Kilim is an opportunity to preserve a piece of human history. These rugs are highly valued by collectors for their authenticity and the skill required to maintain traditional patterns while allowing for individual creative expression. They represent a bridge between the ancient nomadic past and the contemporary home, offering a depth of soul that only time-honoured craft can provide.

This rug is entirely hand-woven by skilled artisans, a process that requires immense focus and traditional expertise. Unlike machine-made alternatives, the hand-woven technique involves manually interlacing the threads, creating a flat, sturdy surface that showcases the precision of the weaver.

With a total weight of 8.2 kg spread across its 320 x 160 cm frame, this rug demonstrates a high material density that speaks to the time and effort invested in its creation. Every section of the pattern is carefully managed by hand, ensuring the geometric motifs are sharp and consistent throughout the entire surface.

The labour-intensive nature of this flat-weave technique is what gives the rug its lasting quality and distinctive aesthetic. Because every pass of the shuttle is guided by human hands, the resulting rug possesses a subtle, organic variation that serves as the hallmark of genuine hand-woven craftsmanship.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
