Owning this rug provides an opportunity to bring a genuinely unique element into your home, serving as a focal point that carries the legacy of its origin.

The dense Wool pile offers a soft, comforting texture underfoot that adds warmth to cold floors while effectively absorbing sound. Its substantial feel and durable construction make it an ideal choice for high-traffic areas, providing both beauty and long-lasting functionality.

The design features a classic Middle Eastern aesthetic, with a bold, dark field contrasted by vibrant, warm tones that create a sense of depth and visual interest. The pattern flows harmoniously along the runner, drawing the eye across the length of the piece and grounding the surrounding space.

Because each rug is crafted individually, you can be certain that your choice is an original work of art. The combination of its generous size and high-quality materials ensures that it will remain a cherished part of your home for many years to come.

Koliai rugs originate from the Kurdish tribes inhabiting the mountainous regions of the Middle East. These rugs are deeply rooted in a long-standing nomadic and semi-nomadic tradition, where weaving is a vital cultural expression passed down through generations of families.

The distinctive character of these rugs comes from the use of high-quality, hand-spun Wool, often dyed with deep, rich pigments that reflect the natural landscape of their origin. This traditional approach to material preparation ensures that the colours remain vivid and the pile remains resilient even after decades of use.

Visually, Koliai rugs are known for their bold, geometric interpretations of floral and tribal motifs. The patterns often feature large-scale medallions or repeating elements that are framed by wide, highly decorative borders. These designs are not merely decorative but serve as a visual language that tells the story of the artisan and their specific community.

Collectors value these rugs for their authenticity and the sheer skill involved in their creation. Owning a Koliai piece is an investment in cultural heritage, representing a connection to a centuries-old craft that prioritises human touch and individual artistry over industrial uniformity.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to complete every single knot. This intensive process ensures a level of structural integrity and pattern precision that simply cannot be achieved through machine-made alternatives.

With a weight of 11.6 kg, this piece demonstrates a robust and dense construction. The substantial amount of material used, combined with the careful, knot-by-knot assembly, results in a heavy-duty rug that is built to withstand daily use while maintaining its shape and character over time.
