The rug is a genuine one-of-a-kind piece, meaning the specific combination of deep, saturated tones and intricate tribal patterns exists nowhere else in the world. Owning this rug allows you to bring a unique, irreplaceable element into your home that reflects a deep appreciation for authentic craft.

Beyond its visual appeal, the wool pile is naturally resilient, offering excellent sound-dampening qualities and durability that ensures it remains a comfortable feature of your home for years to come. The dense construction helps it maintain its shape and beauty even in high-traffic areas.

Rooted in the rich artistic traditions of the Middle East, this rug serves as both a functional floor covering and a conversation piece. Its presence adds a layer of depth and history to your interior, creating a warm, welcoming environment that feels both personal and thoughtfully curated.

Koliai rugs originate from the mountainous regions of the Middle East, where they are traditionally woven by tribal groups. These rugs are celebrated for their bold, rustic aesthetic and are deeply tied to the nomadic heritage of the weavers who have passed down these specific techniques through many generations.

The construction of a Koliai rug is defined by its sturdy, dense pile which is designed to provide insulation against harsh climates. The use of high-quality wool ensures that the finished piece is both durable and soft, reflecting a craft tradition that prioritizes longevity and practical utility alongside artistic expression.

Signature design elements in Koliai rugs often include large, striking medallions and geometric motifs that draw inspiration from the natural surroundings and local tribal symbolism. The borders are typically filled with decorative, rhythmic patterns that frame the field, providing a sense of balance and order to the vibrant, often complex interior designs.

These rugs are highly valued by collectors for their authenticity and the human story woven into every inch of the fabric. Owning a Koliai is more than just acquiring a rug; it is a way to preserve a piece of living history and support the continuation of a centuries-old craft that remains largely unchanged by modern industrial methods.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to its creation. Each individual knot is placed by hand, a process that ensures the pattern remains crisp, vibrant, and incredibly durable over time.

With a total weight of 19.2 kg across its 300 x 160 cm frame, this rug demonstrates a substantial and dense construction. This weight is a direct result of the high-quality wool used and the intense labour involved in the hand-knotting process, ensuring a robust piece that will withstand daily life with ease.

The precision required to execute these complex tribal motifs by hand is significant. This level of craftsmanship is what elevates the rug from a simple floor covering to a lasting investment, built to retain its structural integrity and aesthetic charm for generations.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.
