Mehraban - A Timeless Addition to Your Hallway

This one-of-a-kind Mehraban runner brings warmth and classic Middle Eastern character to your home with its rich red tones and intricate floral details.

The Mehraban runner is a striking piece that instantly grounds a room with its deep, inviting red field and sophisticated floral motifs. Its generous 12 mm pile offers a soft, cushioned feel underfoot, providing both comfort and a sense of warmth to narrow spaces like hallways or entryways.

Crafted from premium Wool, this runner is designed to withstand daily use while maintaining its plush texture and vibrant appearance. The dense construction ensures the rug lies beautifully flat and provides excellent sound absorption, helping to create a quieter and more peaceful home environment.

Because this rug is truly one of a kind, you are acquiring an item that exists nowhere else in the world. No two Mehraban rugs are identical, as each is a unique expression of the weaver's artistic vision, meaning this exact piece will never be replicated.

Originating from the Middle East, this rug carries a rich history of design and artistry. Its classic aesthetic and durable build make it a practical yet artistic choice, ensuring it remains a cherished part of your living space for many years to come.

The Mehraban design is celebrated for its balanced and harmonious compositions, typically featuring a central medallion surrounded by lush, flowing floral vines. These rugs often utilise a palette dominated by deep reds, blues, and creams, which work together to create a warm and sophisticated atmosphere.

The borders of a Mehraban rug are as significant as the field, often showcasing repeating geometric or floral motifs that frame the central design perfectly. This formal arrangement is a hallmark of the style, making these runners an ideal choice for adding a touch of traditional elegance to any interior.

Mehraban rugs originate from a region in the Middle East known for its long-standing tradition of weaving. These rugs have evolved over generations, drawing on local influences and techniques that have been passed down through families of master weavers.

The technical quality of a Mehraban rug is found in its construction. The use of hand-knotted techniques ensures a level of durability and pile density that is difficult to achieve through other methods, allowing the Wool to maintain its lustre and texture over decades of use.

Design-wise, these rugs are defined by their artistic floral patterns and balanced layouts. While they share common characteristics with other regional styles, the Mehraban is distinct for its specific interpretation of traditional motifs, often incorporating unique colour combinations that reflect the local landscape and cultural heritage.

Owning a Mehraban rug is more than just a decor choice; it is an appreciation of a craft that has survived the test of time. These pieces are highly valued by collectors for their cultural significance and the genuine human skill reflected in every knot, serving as a connection to a centuries-old tradition.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a traditional craft that requires immense skill and patience. By knotting each strand of Wool individually onto a cotton foundation, the artisans create a surface that is both incredibly dense and highly resilient to wear.

With a density of 160,000 knots per m2, this runner represents a significant investment of time and human effort. This precise knotting allows for the intricate, sharp detailing seen in the floral patterns, ensuring that the design remains crisp and clear while providing the structural integrity needed for high-traffic areas.

The substantial weight of 13.5 kg is a direct result of the high-quality materials and tight, hand-knotted construction. This weight ensures the rug stays firmly in place, demonstrating the superior quality and labour-intensive process that goes into creating such a lasting piece of functional art.
