This Pakistan Bokhara rug offers a remarkably soft and dense pile that brings immediate comfort to your living space. The tactile quality of the wool provides natural warmth and sound absorption, making it an ideal choice for creating a cosy, quiet environment in your home.

The deep red field is punctuated by repeating motifs, creating a balanced and harmonious look that anchors a room. Its generous size makes it a perfect foundation for a living area or a large bedroom, offering a sense of stability and calm to your interior design.

As a truly one-of-a-kind piece, this rug carries a unique character that cannot be replicated. When you choose this rug, you are acquiring an original work of art that will never be produced again, ensuring that your home reflects a style that is entirely your own.

Originating from the skilled weaving traditions of Pakistan, this piece is built to stand the test of time. The quality of the construction ensures that it retains its beauty and plush feel through years of use, becoming a cherished part of your household that ages gracefully alongside you.

The Bokhara rug tradition draws its name from the ancient Silk Road city of Bukhara in Central Asia, a historic hub for trade and textile artistry. While the style originated with nomadic tribes in the region, the finest contemporary examples are now woven in Pakistan, where the tradition has been refined and perfected over generations.

The term 2ply refers to the specific way the wool is prepared for the loom. By twisting two strands of wool together before knotting, the weavers create a thicker, more resilient pile that offers a deeper sheen and enhanced longevity. This technical choice is what gives the rug its signature plush feel and ability to withstand the demands of a busy home.

Visually, this tradition is defined by its disciplined use of repeating gul motifs. These medallion-like shapes, often resembling elephant footprints, are arranged in precise rows across the field and framed by intricate, formal borders. The consistent use of red as a base colour is a hallmark of the style, representing a classic aesthetic that remains a staple in refined interiors.

Owning a hand-knotted piece from this tradition is an investment in cultural heritage and human skill. Because each rug is made entirely by hand, it reflects the specific choices and steady hand of the weaver who created it. It is this connection to traditional craft that makes these rugs highly valued, as they offer a sense of history and permanence in a world of mass production.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to its creation. By using a 2ply construction, where two strands of wool are twisted together, the makers achieve a pile that is significantly more durable and lustrous than standard single-ply alternatives.

The precision of the 250,000 knots per m2 is a testament to the intense human labour involved in this piece. This high knot density allows for the crisp, clean definition of the repeating motifs and ensures the rug remains firm and supportive underfoot, justifying the time and expert care invested in every single square inch.

With a total weight of 32.7 kg, the substantial nature of this rug speaks to the quality of the materials and the density of the weave. This weight is a direct result of the generous amount of high-quality wool used, providing a heavy, grounded feel that signals both premium construction and long-lasting durability.
