PatchworkHand KnottedRug

Dark grey / Black170 x 240 cm

Patchwork rugs from Turkey represent a modern evolution of long-standing textile traditions. By reclaiming sections of older, hand-knotted rugs, artisans breathe new life into fibres that have already stood the test of time, honouring the history of regional weaving while creating a fresh, contemporary look.

The construction of these pieces relies on the expert eye of the artisan who balances colour, tone, and texture across the entire surface. This craft requires a deep understanding of how different weaves and pile heights interact, ensuring that the finished rug is not only visually balanced but also structurally sound.

The design of a patchwork rug is defined by its geometric composition. Each segment acts as a window into a different textile narrative, with the borders between them creating a modern grid that frames the intricate patterns of the original pieces. This creates a striking contrast between the traditional motifs found in the remnants and the minimalist, modern layout of the final assembly.

Valued by collectors and interior enthusiasts alike, these rugs are celebrated for their ability to bridge the gap between antique heritage and modern living. Owning a piece like this is an investment in sustainable craftsmanship, where the skill of the original weavers is combined with contemporary design sensibility to create something truly exceptional.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who assemble each section with precision. The process involves selecting individual pieces of vintage textiles and joining them through a rigorous hand-stitching technique to ensure a seamless and durable finish.

With a weight of 14.3 kg for its 240 x 170 cm size, this rug demonstrates a high density of materials and a commitment to quality. The weight is a direct result of the dense pile and the robust foundation, reflecting the extensive human effort and time required to curate and construct such a complex piece.

Every stitch is placed by hand, ensuring the integrity of the patchwork design. This intensive labour ensures that the rug maintains its structure and aesthetic appeal over time, standing as a testament to the dedication involved in creating high-quality, long-lasting home textiles.
