Patchwork - A Harmonious Blend of History

Discover the charm of this one-of-a-kind patchwork rug, featuring a curated assembly of hand-knotted wool fragments that bring a storied, artistic character to your home.
This one-of-a-kind patchwork rug offers a unique visual narrative, thoughtfully composed of individual hand-knotted wool segments. By bringing together varied textures and faded floral motifs, the design creates a cohesive yet dynamic surface that feels both grounded and sophisticated underfoot.
The pile provides a soft, tactile experience that adds warmth to any room, making it an excellent choice for living areas or bedrooms. Its low profile ensures it sits comfortably beneath furniture, while the dense wool construction offers natural sound absorption and resilience for everyday use.
Because each section of this rug is sourced from different origins, the final piece is entirely singular. You are acquiring a work of art that exists nowhere else in the world, ensuring your space reflects a truly personal and collected aesthetic that cannot be replicated.
The careful arrangement of these wool fragments results in a balanced composition that bridges the gap between traditional craftsmanship and modern design. It serves as a beautiful focal point that invites you to appreciate the subtle variations in colour and pattern that only handmade textiles can offer.
Patchwork rugs represent a modern evolution of an ancient tradition, breathing new life into older hand-knotted textiles from across the Middle East. This creative approach honours the skill of past generations by reclaiming worn or fragmented rugs and reimagining them into contemporary designs.
The term hand-knotted refers to the classic method of tying individual knots onto a foundation, a skill passed down through centuries. In this patchwork iteration, the focus shifts to the art of arrangement, where the weaver selects pieces that complement one another in tone and texture to create a harmonious new form.
Signature design elements in these pieces often include remnants of traditional floral, medallion, or geometric patterns. These fragments carry the history of their original regions, often showcasing the rich colour palettes and intricate borders that are characteristic of classic Middle Eastern weaving traditions.
Owning a patchwork rug is a way to preserve the legacy of textile art while embracing a modern aesthetic. It is a choice for those who value the story behind their decor, as each piece serves as a curated collection of history, skill, and creative vision that adds genuine character to a home.
This rug is meticulously constructed using a traditional hand-knotted technique. Each segment is carefully selected and joined to create a unified whole, requiring significant time and precision to ensure the seams are secure and the pile height remains consistent across the entire surface.
With a weight of 15.9 kg, this piece demonstrates a substantial density that speaks to the quality of the wool used in its creation. This weight is a testament to the labour-intensive process of sourcing, cleaning, and hand-stitching each fragment to ensure long-term durability and structural integrity.
The craftsmanship involved in assembling this patchwork design requires an expert eye for detail. By combining multiple hand-knotted sections, the makers transform individual remnants into a durable, cohesive floor covering that celebrates the beauty of repurposed materials.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.
