Patchwork - A Piece of Home Worth Keeping

Originating from Turkey, this one-of-a-kind vintage Patchwork runner brings authentic character and warm, grounded tones to your hallway.

Dating back 20 to 50 years, this vintage Turkish Patchwork runner combines genuine history with a distinct visual character. Crafted using reassembled sections of older hand-knotted carpets, it offers a soft wool pile that feels comfortable underfoot while bringing instant warmth to long, narrow spaces.

Made with natural wool, the surface provides a rich tactile feel and reassuring durability. The natural fibers ensure the rug handles daily passage with ease, making it a reliable addition to your home environment.

Measuring 258 x 75 cm, the runner profile is ideal for hallways, entryways, or along the side of a bed. Its low 8 mm profile allows doors to open smoothly over the top without catching or pulling.

As a true one-of-a-kind piece, no second example of this rug exists anywhere in the world. Choosing this runner means adding a completely unique piece of textile history to your living space.

Design

The runner displays a panelled composition featuring muted beige and brown hues complemented by subtle blue details.

Traditional geometric fragments and floral elements are stitched side-by-side, creating a rich visual rhythm across the long format.

The modern Turkish Patchwork tradition emerged as a creative way to preserve and reimagine vintage hand-knotted carpets. Instead of discarding older rugs that showed signs of wear, master artisans began washing, shearing, and cutting them into smaller sections to assemble into entirely new compositions.

In rug making, hand knotting refers to the individual tying of yarn around warp threads. This vintage runner incorporates pieces woven using the traditional Turkish double knot, known for its exceptional structural strength and resilience over decades of use.

The visual language of Patchwork rugs is defined by the contrast of varied panels. Traditional geometric fragments, floral motifs, and border elements meet in unexpected ways, creating a harmonious interplay between distinct historical patterns and contemporary styling.

Vintage Turkish Patchwork rugs are valued by collectors and homeowners alike for their sustainable nature and expressive aesthetic. Owning one means acquiring a piece that carries decades of authentic craftsmanship forward into a modern interior.

Hand knotted in Turkey, this rug represents hours of patient manual skill. Artisans carefully selected sections from vintage hand-knotted carpets, stitching them together to form a balanced runner layout.

Weighing 6.8 kg for a 258 x 75 cm surface area, the piece demonstrates a solid, dense construction. Every square metre reflects the substantial amount of wool and hand labor required to create the original carpets and repurpose them into this new format.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.
