Patchwork Runner - A Unique Piece of Anatolian Craft

This vintage Turkish Patchwork runner brings together historic woven fragments into one unique piece for your home.

Dating back between 20 and 50 years, this vintage Patchwork runner offers a wonderful connection to traditional Turkish craft. Crafted from wool, the low 8 mm pile provides a comfortable and practical surface underfoot that sits easily under furniture and in high-use areas like hallways.

Each section of this piece was carefully selected from older hand-knotted rugs and brought together to form a balanced layout. Because it is a true one-of-a-kind rug, no second piece exists anywhere in the world, making it a completely individual addition to your interior.

Originating from Turkey, the rug carries the genuine character and soft color variations that only decades of natural aging can create. The gentle beige and brown tones blend seamlessly into a versatile palette that brings instant warmth and texture to living spaces.

Living with an vintage piece means enjoying a rug that has already stood the test of time. Its durable wool construction ensures it will remain a cherished part of your daily home life for years to come.

The modern tradition of Turkish Patchwork rugs grew out of a desire to preserve and celebrate historic hand-knotted textiles. Artisans select vintage Anatolian rugs that have developed beautiful patinas over decades, carefully cutting undamaged sections to assemble into fresh contemporary layouts.

Combining fragments from different regions brings together a variety of weaving styles and motif languages. The cotton warp foundation provides strong structural stability, while the wool pile retains the natural resilience and softness built up over 20 to 50 years of history.

Visual elements in Patchwork pieces often feature geometric fragments, floral borders, and subtle pictorial motifs. As these varied segments are dyed or left in their naturally faded states, they form a harmonious collage of traditional Anatolian rug heritage.

Owning a vintage Patchwork piece offers both sustainable design appeal and genuine historical character. It allows older artisan techniques to remain part of modern living, preserving cultural storytelling in a form made for contemporary interiors.

This runner is constructed from authentic hand-knotted rug sections originally crafted in Turkey several decades ago. Each individual piece was reconditioned and hand-stitched together with care, turning historic woven art into a new functional design.

Weighing 9.1 kg for its 305 x 85 cm size, the rug has a substantial feel and density. The sheer amount of wool material and labor reflected in these combined fragments highlights the impressive skill involved in both the original weaving and the final composition.

By repurposing vintage textiles, this handmade process celebrates traditional artistry while creating a heavy, durable floor covering built to handle everyday use.
