Crafted from high-quality wool, this rug offers a soft and tactile experience underfoot. Its substantial pile provides excellent comfort and natural sound absorption, making it an ideal choice for creating a cosy atmosphere in bedrooms or living areas.

As a one-of-a-kind creation, this rug is a singular work of art. No two pieces are ever exactly alike, meaning that when you bring this rug into your home, you are owning a unique expression of craft that will never be replicated.

Originating from the Middle Eastern tradition of tribal weaving, this rug carries the soul of its makers. Its enduring construction ensures that it remains a beautiful and functional part of your interior for years to come, aging gracefully with daily use.

The Qashqai people are a nomadic confederation from the Middle Eastern region, known for their centuries-old tradition of creating rugs while travelling across diverse landscapes. These rugs are deeply connected to the environment and the cultural heritage of the tribes, serving as both functional items for tent life and artistic expressions of their identity.

In the world of rug craft, the term Qashqai refers to a specific style of hand-knotted construction that emphasises strength and bold, expressive design. The use of natural wool, often sourced directly from the tribe's own flocks, results in a rug that is naturally resilient and rich in colour, showcasing the deep knowledge of traditional dyeing and knotting techniques passed down through generations.

Signature design elements of these rugs often include geometric interpretations of nature, such as the animals and stylised motifs seen on this piece. While many rugs from this tradition favour repeating patterns, pictorial rugs like this one are highly valued for their narrative quality, often depicting scenes from everyday life or local folklore that hold significant meaning for the weaver.

Owning a Qashqai rug is an invitation to connect with a storied past. Because they were traditionally woven for personal use or as dowry pieces rather than for mass production, these rugs are prized by collectors for their authenticity and the immense skill required to produce such intricate, storytelling designs without the aid of written patterns.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to each piece. By passing wool through the foundation with precision, the makers achieve a dense, resilient pile that defines the rug's structural integrity and long-term durability.

With a weight of 7.1 kg, this rug demonstrates the generous amount of high-quality material invested in its construction. This density is the result of thousands of individual knots, reflecting a level of human labour and attention to detail that simply cannot be achieved through machine-made alternatives.
