Crafted entirely from pure silk, this rug offers a remarkably soft and luxurious feel underfoot. The natural sheen of the silk fibres captures the light beautifully, creating a gentle play of colour that shifts as you move around the room. Beyond its visual appeal, the dense silk pile provides a cosy warmth and excellent sound absorption, making your living space feel quiet and serene.

As a one-of-a-kind creation, this rug is entirely unique. No two pieces are ever identical, meaning you are acquiring a singular work of art that cannot be replicated or reordered. Owning this piece means bringing a truly individual character into your home, a personal touch that is yours alone.

The design features a classic Middle Eastern layout, filled with intricate floral motifs in soft beige and pink tones. The delicate patterns flow gracefully across the surface, framed by a detailed border that grounds the composition. It is a beautiful example of regional craftsmanship, designed to bring a sense of calm and sophistication to any classic interior.

The tradition of Qum rug weaving originates from the holy city of Qum in the Middle East. While many regional weaving centres boast centuries of history, Qum established its reputation in the early twentieth century, quickly becoming renowned for producing some of the most luxurious and detailed rugs in the world.

Unlike many other traditions that use wool, Qum rugs are celebrated for their exclusive use of pure silk for both the pile and the warp. This choice of material allows weavers to achieve an extraordinary level of detail and a signature luminous quality. The silk fibres reflect light in a way that gives the rug a fluid, almost glowing appearance.

The visual language of Qum rugs is characterised by intricate floral patterns, elegant medallions, and delicate vase motifs. This specific piece showcases a beautifully balanced arrangement where fine blossoms and scrolling vines fill the field, enclosed by a formal decorative border that defines the classic style.

Today, Qum silk rugs are highly valued by collectors and design enthusiasts worldwide. Owning one of these pieces is not merely about floor covering, but about preserving a fine art form. The combination of pure silk, exceptional craftsmanship, and regional heritage ensures that each rug remains a cherished possession for generations.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted by skilled artisans, a traditional technique requiring immense patience and precision. Every single knot is tied individually by hand, creating a structure of incredible density and strength. This traditional method ensures that the intricate floral patterns remain sharp and clear for generations to come.

With a weight of 2.3 kg for its compact 118 x 78 cm size, the rug demonstrates a remarkably dense and substantial construction. This concentration of pure silk material reflects the intense human effort and hours of focused labour required to complete a piece of this quality, making it a valuable addition to your home.

Silk

Silk is an exclusive natural fibre that provides a soft and shiny feeling to rugs. The material can also be used to enhance details in wool rugs and in some, silk can make up the entire pile and sometimes even the warp. Elegant rugs with rich details can only be made with silk because other fibres are too thick for this purpose. Silk is a durable and hard-wearing fibre that lasts a long time and becomes more beautiful over time. Due to its sensitivity to liquids, it is advisable to refrain from positioning the rug in areas where there is a high likelihood of moisture or potential spills.
