Black / Dark red250 x 360 cm

The Sarough rug tradition originates from the small village of Sarough in the Middle East, a region that has long been celebrated for its contribution to fine weaving. Over the last century, these rugs became globally renowned for their durability and the distinctively high quality of their wool, often featuring a deep, rich red palette that has become synonymous with the style.

The term 'Mir' refers to a specific design variation often found within the Sarough style, characterised by smaller, repeated motifs that create a sophisticated, textured appearance. This style is highly regarded for its balance, where the ornate borders frame a field that feels both complex and orderly, showcasing the weaver's ability to maintain perfect symmetry across a large scale.

Signature elements of the Sarough Mir include the elegant floral or decorative motifs that scatter across the field, often circling a central medallion. These designs are rooted in centuries of regional history, reflecting the natural beauty and artistic sensibilities of the weavers who developed these patterns over generations.

Owning a piece from this tradition is an invitation to house a small part of cultural history. These rugs are prized by collectors and homeowners alike not just for their aesthetic appeal, but for the legacy of skill they represent. Each rug is a culmination of regional design evolution, offering lasting value and a sense of connection to the artisans of the Middle East.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense skill and dedication. With 160,000 knots per m2, the creation of this 360 x 250 cm piece represents hundreds of hours of focused labour by experienced artisans. This high density ensures that the intricate patterns remain sharp and well-defined for years to come.

The weight of 27 kg is a testament to the generous use of high-quality materials and the robust, dense foundation of the rug. This substantial construction not only enhances the durability of the piece but also contributes to its luxurious feel and ability to lie flat and secure in your home.

Every knot is placed by hand, creating a level of structural integrity that machines simply cannot replicate. By investing in this hand-knotted rug, you are supporting a tradition of craft that values patience and precision, resulting in a floor covering that is as enduring as it is beautiful.
