Originating from the rich weaving traditions of Afghanistan, this piece brings a sense of authentic provenance into your living space. It is designed to be more than just a floor covering, serving as a foundational element that anchors your decor with its character and history.

The Shabargan rug represents the enduring weaving culture of Afghanistan, a region where rug-making is deeply woven into the fabric of social and economic life. These rugs are born from a history of nomadic and semi-nomadic traditions, where the environment and local materials have dictated the evolution of design for centuries.

Technically, the hand-knotted construction is a testament to the longevity of Afghan craft. By using a foundation of Cotton, these rugs achieve a stable, flat lay that is essential for both durability and the crisp definition of the patterns. This construction ensures the rug can withstand the test of time while maintaining its tactile appeal.

Visually, this piece draws from a rich vocabulary of geometric motifs and balanced compositions. The patterns often feature symbolic elements that have been passed down through generations of families, representing a narrative language that connects the modern home to ancient traditions of the Middle East.

Owning an Afghan rug is an act of supporting a craft that has survived through immense historical change. Collectors value these pieces not only for their aesthetic depth but for the undeniable human skill they represent. It is an investment in heritage that brings a sense of cultural weight and authenticity to any interior.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to each piece. This traditional, labour-intensive process ensures that every knot is placed with intention, resulting in a robust structure and a pile that is exceptionally dense and long-lasting.

With a density of 160,000 knots per m2, the level of precision achieved in this piece is remarkable. This high knot count allows for the sharp, intricate detail seen in the pattern and ensures a structural integrity that maintains its form and beauty even with regular use.

The combination of a 5.1 kg weight and carefully selected materials speaks to the substance and quality of the craft involved. Every aspect of this rug's creation is focused on durability and aesthetic excellence, justifying the time and human skill required to bring such a complex design to life.
