As a one-of-a-kind creation, this rug represents a singular work of art. No two rugs are ever identical, meaning the specific patterns and subtle colour variations you see here are unique to this piece. Owning it grants you a truly exclusive item that will never be replicated.

Originating from a region with a storied tradition of rug making, this piece carries a legacy of skilled workmanship. By choosing this rug, you are bringing a genuine piece of history into your home, ensuring that your space is defined by quality, authenticity, and a timeless sense of style.

Tabriz rugs hail from one of the oldest rug-weaving centres in the Middle East. Located in the northwestern part of the region, the city of Tabriz has been a vital hub for trade and artistry for centuries, serving as a crossroads where diverse cultural influences converge to create a unique and highly refined aesthetic.

The term '60 Raj' refers to a specific system of measurement used to denote the fineness of the weave. A higher Raj count indicates a greater number of knots per unit of measurement, which allows for more intricate and detailed patterns. This technical standard is a benchmark for quality, ensuring that the rug possesses both visual complexity and a firm, durable structure.

Design-wise, Tabriz rugs are celebrated for their balanced compositions. They often feature a central medallion surrounded by a field of dense, flowing floral vines and palmettes. The borders are typically wide and elaborately decorated, framing the central field in a way that creates a harmonious and symmetrical look, highly prized by collectors for its elegance.

Collecting a Tabriz rug is an investment in cultural heritage. These pieces are valued not only for their beauty but for the centuries of skill they represent. Owning one is a way to connect with a long-standing tradition of excellence, ensuring that the art of hand-knotting continues to be appreciated for its depth, precision, and lasting value.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a process that requires immense patience, steady hands, and an eye for detail. Each individual knot is tied by a skilled artisan, a labour-intensive method that ensures the pile is exceptionally durable and capable of maintaining its structure and beauty through years of use.

With a density of 490,000 knots per m2, the creation of this 150 x 103 cm piece represents hundreds of hours of focused effort. This high knot count is the hallmark of fine craftsmanship, providing the necessary density to support the complex, flowing motifs and fine lines that give this rug its refined appearance.

The substantial weight of 7 kg is a testament to the quality of the materials used in its construction. This density not only contributes to the rug's longevity and performance but also highlights the commitment to high-standard craft that defines the Tabriz tradition, ensuring a floor covering that is as resilient as it is beautiful.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Silk

Silk is an exclusive natural fibre that provides a soft and shiny feeling to rugs. The material can also be used to enhance details in wool rugs and in some, silk can make up the entire pile and sometimes even the warp. Elegant rugs with rich details can only be made with silk because other fibres are too thick for this purpose. Silk is a durable and hard-wearing fibre that lasts a long time and becomes more beautiful over time. Due to its sensitivity to liquids, it is advisable to refrain from positioning the rug in areas where there is a high likelihood of moisture or potential spills.
