Step onto the rich, comforting surface of this antique Tabriz rug and experience the natural warmth and soft underfoot feel that only 100% wool can provide. At 10 mm thick, it creates a cosy and welcoming atmosphere in your living room or study while offering natural sound absorption for a quieter, more peaceful home.

The dense pile is built from 100% wool, celebrated for its durability and resilience against daily life. It feels reassuringly substantial underfoot, holding its shape and comforting texture through years of everyday use.

With a high density of 250,000 knots per m2, this rug delivers exceptional pattern definition and a dense, luxurious pile that will last for generations. This intricate knot count means the design stays crisp and clear while providing a sturdy surface that withstands normal household wear.

This is a genuine one-of-a-kind piece with its own distinct character, meaning no two rugs are identical and this exact design will never be made again. Owning it means bringing a piece of genuine provenance and individual artistry into your living space.

Tabriz rugs originate from one of the oldest rug-weaving centres in the Middle East, located in the historic city of Tabriz along major trade routes. For centuries, master workshops here have refined the art of carpet making, blending classical court designs with regional motifs to create some of the most sought-after rugs in the world.

The designation 50 Raj refers to a traditional Persian unit of measurement indicating the fineness of the foundation warp threads per specific width. This high Raj count signals an exceptionally tight and refined weave, allowing master weavers to execute intricate curves and detailed floral compositions with remarkable clarity.

The visual tradition of Tabriz often centres around grand central medallions surrounded by elaborate floral sprays and finely detailed garden motifs, enclosed by layered borders. This particular piece showcases those signature floral elements in a harmonious balance of deep tones, reflecting a long-standing appreciation for symmetry and botanical artistry.

Collecting antique Tabriz carpets connects your home to a deep lineage of textile art and skilled craftsmanship. Owning a piece of this age and heritage is a way to appreciate enduring human skill, adding both cultural depth and lasting quality to your interior.

This rug is entirely handmade through traditional hand-knotted techniques, representing countless hours of careful human labour by skilled artisans. Each knot is tied by hand onto the foundation, ensuring a level of structural integrity and precision that machines simply cannot replicate.

With a density of 250,000 knots per m2 across its 185 x 129 cm dimensions, this piece requires approximately 600,000 individual hand-tied knots. This immense undertaking demands exceptional skill and patience, reflecting a traditional craft where master weavers spend months bringing a single design to life.

Weighing 7.2 kg, the heavy construction points to a dense weave packed with generous amounts of 100% wool, ensuring that the time and effort invested translate directly into a long-lasting, sturdy floor covering.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.
