Tabriz rugs originate from the historic city of Tabriz in the Middle East, a location that has served as a pivotal hub on the ancient Silk Road for centuries. This city is renowned as one of the oldest and most significant centres for carpet weaving, where artists developed a sophisticated aesthetic that blends floral motifs with intricate geometric structures.

The Tabriz style is celebrated for its remarkable variety and technical precision. Traditionally, these rugs are known for their high knot density, which allows weavers to execute incredibly detailed and fluid designs that appear almost like paintings. This tradition has evolved over generations, with master weavers constantly refining their techniques to achieve unparalleled clarity in their patterns.

Signature design elements of the Tabriz tradition typically include a centralised medallion surrounded by dense floral scrolls, palmettes, and delicate vines. The borders are often equally elaborate, frequently featuring complex guards that frame the field. This specific runner captures that classic elegance, utilising a balanced composition that remains a hallmark of the style.

Owning a piece from this lineage is an investment in cultural heritage and artistic expression. These rugs are highly valued by collectors for their ability to harmonise complex design with structural longevity. By choosing this piece, you are continuing a legacy of craftsmanship that spans centuries and connects your modern home to a long-standing tradition of beauty.

This runner is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that involves the precise placement of individual wool threads onto a sturdy foundation. This labour-intensive method ensures the highest level of durability and allows for the fine, intricate pattern details that define this style.

Given the size of 399 by 83 cm, the creation of this piece represents hundreds of hours of focused human effort. The density of the construction is evident in the weight of 13.6 kg, which confirms the generous amount of high-quality wool used to ensure a thick, durable pile that maintains its integrity over many years.
