Experience the comfort of this hand-knotted rug, crafted from premium wool that offers a soft, tactile feel underfoot. Its natural warmth and ability to absorb sound make it an ideal choice for creating a calm, inviting atmosphere in your living space.

This piece is truly one of a kind. Because it is a unique creation, no two rugs are identical, and this exact design will never be made again. Owning it means bringing a piece of genuine artistry into your home that reflects a specific moment in the weaver's craft.

The intricate floral patterns are set against a light, neutral field, framed by a rich, deep-toned border that draws the eye. The wool pile is designed to provide both comfort and resilience, ensuring that the rug remains a beautiful part of your home for years to come.

Originating from Pakistan, this rug carries a tradition of high-quality craftsmanship. Its size and composition make it a versatile addition to various interior settings, offering a balance of sophisticated design and everyday practicality that enhances any room it occupies.

Ziegler rugs trace their history back to the late 19th century when the Swiss firm Ziegler & Co. commissioned designs in the Middle East to cater to the tastes of the Western market. They sought to adapt traditional, intricate patterns into more spacious and muted styles that would better complement contemporary homes of that era.

The term 'Ziegler' has since become a hallmark for a specific aesthetic that values open fields and balanced, flowing floral motifs. These rugs are celebrated for their ability to bridge the gap between traditional history and modern design, focusing on harmony and subtle colour palettes rather than dense, overwhelming patterns.

Signature elements of this tradition include large-scale floral sprays and soft, undulating vines that seem to move across the field. The borders are typically well-proportioned, providing a strong frame for the more delicate central motifs, which creates a sense of calm and order within the overall composition.

Today, Pakistan is the primary centre for the production of these high-quality rugs. By maintaining these historical design principles, weavers preserve a legacy of skill that is highly valued by collectors. Owning a Ziegler rug is an investment in a storied tradition that prioritises beauty, balance, and lasting quality.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a process that requires immense skill and patience from the artisan. Each individual knot is tied by hand to the foundation, creating a dense and durable pile that highlights the sharpness and clarity of the floral design.

With a total weight of 13.4 kg spread across its dimensions, the rug possesses a substantial, high-quality feel. This significant weight is a direct result of the dense construction and the generous amount of material used, ensuring the rug lies flat and maintains its shape over time.

The creation of a rug with this level of detail takes a considerable amount of time, with every square centimetre reflecting the effort and precision of the weaver. This focus on traditional hand-knotting ensures a level of structural integrity that mass-produced alternatives simply cannot match.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.
