What shades of purple rugs are available?

Rugvista’s purple rugs come in a few different shades, so you can match the depth of colour to the room:Light purple rugs: Soft, pale lilac and lavender tones — a gentle way to bring purple into a room without it taking over.Mauve rugs: A dusky, greyish pink-purple, one of the more muted shades and easy to pair with grey or neutral schemes.Dark purple rugs: A deep, near-black purple, the boldest and most dramatic shade in the range.Aubergine purple rugs: A deep purple-brown, warmer and earthier than a true dark purple, and a popular alternative to plain brown or black.Plum rugs: A reddish-purple with warm undertones, easy to pair with most existing furniture and one of the more versatile shades.Violet rugs: A true, more saturated purple with blue undertones — a striking accent colour rather than a subtle background one.

Where should you place a purple rug?

Living room: A mid-to-dark purple living room rug — think plum or aubergine — gives the room a clear focal point that still sits comfortably with neutral or wood-toned furniture. Rest at least the front legs of your sofa and chairs on the rug so it anchors the seating area instead of floating in the middle of the floor.Bedroom: A softer, dustier purple bedroom rug in lilac or mauve works well, since it’s the first colour underfoot in the morning in a room that’s meant to feel calm rather than make a statement. Centre the rug under the end two-thirds of the bed, so there’s an even border either side to step onto rather than just a strip peeking out.

Purple rugs: Lilac, mauve and plum shades

Purple rugs at Rugvista span everything from soft lilac and dusky mauve to deep plum and aubergine, so you can go as bold or as muted as your room needs. Choose from a huge range of sizes, shapes, materials, patterns and designs in our range to find the perfect purple rug for your space.

Choosing a purple rug

Purple works well as a rug colour because it sits between a neutral and a bold statement: pale lilac and mauve are close enough to grey to slot into an existing neutral scheme, while deep plum and aubergine hide everyday marks and light soiling better than paler shades — which is why they’re a popular pick for busy living rooms and hallways rather than just a decorative choice.

Purple rugs come in range of sizes. A small purple rug works well as an accent by a bed or armchair, medium sizes suit a smaller living room or dining space, and large purple rugs are enough to anchor a full seating area. Check the rug size guide if you’re not sure which fits your space.

Purple pairs naturally with grey, which keeps the look calm and works with most existing furniture, and with green, which gives a bolder, more contrasting scheme. Warm neutrals like cream or taupe are the safest match if you want the rug to be the main colour in the room rather than one of several.
