Beluch - A Warm Addition to Your Home

This authentic, one-of-a-kind runner from Afghanistan brings rich, traditional character to your hallway or living space with its deep, vibrant tones and detailed craftsmanship.
This beautiful runner offers a tactile, inviting experience underfoot, with a substantial pile that provides both comfort and warmth. The Wool construction creates a soft yet resilient surface that stands up to daily life while adding a touch of natural luxury to your home.
The rug is a truly one-of-a-kind piece, meaning that its specific combination of design and colour will never be replicated. Owning this runner is an opportunity to introduce a unique, hand-crafted element into your interior that cannot be found elsewhere.
Expertly sourced from Afghanistan, this piece reflects a long-standing tradition of rug weaving. The dense pile ensures that the intricate patterns remain sharp and clear, providing a durable surface that will maintain its beauty and character for many years to come.
Whether placed in a long hallway or used to define a specific area, this runner serves as a grounded, sophisticated focal point. Its natural Wool composition helps to soften the acoustics of a room, creating a more peaceful and comfortable environment for you and your family.
Beluch rugs originate from the nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes of the Baluchistan region, an area spanning parts of Afghanistan, the Middle East, and Pakistan. These rugs have long been celebrated for their ability to translate the rugged, natural beauty of their desert environment into functional art.
The term 'Beluch' refers to the tribal weavers who have passed down their specific knotting techniques through generations. These methods are designed to create a durable, practical rug that can withstand the demands of nomadic life, often utilising Wool sourced directly from the weaver's own flocks.
Signature design elements of these rugs include geometric motifs, often featuring repeating patterns that are symbolic of tribal heritage and local folklore. The use of deep, earthy reds is a hallmark of the tradition, frequently contrasted with dark, almost black outlines that make the patterns stand out with striking clarity.
Today, these rugs are highly valued by collectors for their authenticity and the human story behind every knot. Owning a piece from this tradition means connecting with a culture that has preserved its craft through centuries of change, making it a meaningful addition to any home.
This runner is entirely hand-knotted, a labour-intensive process that requires immense skill and attention to detail. With a density of 250,000 knots per m2, the creation of this 380 x 150 cm piece represents hundreds of hours of focused, manual effort by experienced artisans.
The high knot count is directly responsible for the rug's durability and the precision of its geometric motifs. By placing each knot individually by hand, the weavers ensure a tight, uniform pile that is robust enough for high-traffic areas while retaining a refined, soft texture.
The weight of 15.4 kg is a testament to the generous amount of high-quality Wool used in its construction. This density not only contributes to the rug's longevity but also provides a substantial, high-quality feel that separates it from mass-produced alternatives.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.
