Sorbet Chess - A Soft Touch of Colour

Bring a gentle, colourful warmth to your floor with this hand-woven cotton rug, featuring a soft texture and practical reversible design.

Enjoy the soft and tactile feel of this flat-woven rug underfoot, which adds a cosy layer of warmth to any room in your home. The natural cotton construction creates a comfortable surface that feels pleasant whether you are walking across it or sitting down on the floor.

Crafted from 100% cotton, this piece brings natural materials directly into your living space. The breathable fibres contribute to a healthy indoor climate while offering dependable durability for everyday living areas.

Designed for modern living, this rug is fully compatible with underfloor heating systems, allowing warmth to pass through easily. It is also reversible, meaning you can turn it over to share the wear and extend the time between washes.

Crafted in India by skilled artisans, this rug carries a tradition of careful workmanship. Every piece reflects hours of human effort, ensuring you receive a well-made home textile built with genuine care.

Design

The surface displays a gentle grid pattern formed by alternating blocks of muted tones, creating a subtle checkerboard rhythm across the rug. As a flat-woven kelim style piece, it relies on simple, rhythmic colour shifts rather than raised pile to create visual depth, finished with neat fringes along the shorter edges.

The palette blends soft pinks, warm oranges, muted greens, and earthy reds into a harmonious combination that feels both lively and calm. This versatile mix suits modern living spaces and adds a welcoming touch of colour to wooden floors or neutral seating areas.

This rug is entirely hand-woven on traditional looms by skilled artisans who guide the shuttle with patience and precision. Crafting a flat-woven textile of this size requires steady hands and several days of dedicated work.

The human element behind the production means that each piece carries subtle, individual character. Artisans spend considerable time managing the tension of the yarns to ensure a stable structure and an even finish throughout.

Maintenance

To prevent shading and uneven wear, frequently rotate your rug.
Use a conventional hoover instead of a robotic cleaner to prevent any damage to the rug.
If you discover a loose thread on your rug, use scissors to gently cut it off. Avoid pulling the thread to prevent damage.
Avoid hoovering directly over the fringes, as the suction and brushes can catch the threads and cause damage.

Installation

Fold marks may occur during transport. This is not a manufacturing defect and is easy to remedy. Simply turn your rug over, roll it tightly, and leave it for a few hours. Finally, lay out your rug and wait a few days until your rug lays flat against the floor.
As you unpack your new rug, you may notice a slight smell, which is due to the rug being tightly packed during transport. This is normal and will go away after a few days.
We recommend using an anti-slip mat with this rug, as color migration may occur onto light-colored floors.
Please be aware that trapped dirt, dust, or dampness under a rug may cause marks or scratches on sensitive floors.

Care instructions

Do this

Address spills promptly to minimize staining. Blot the affected area gently with a damp, undyed cloth—never rub, as this may embed the stain further into the fibers. Protect the floor beneath the rug by ensuring it's properly covered during the cleaning process.
For hard-to-remove stains, we recommend you contact a professional rug cleaner.
To clean the fringes, use a soft brush to get the debris out.
